Tourist Place in Leh Laddakh

Ladakh means "Land of High Passes." Ladakh is the place where you can see the towering and looming mountains, a vast land of empty and beautiful landscape and open skies. Besides, this is a place where you can enjoy trekking, adventure sports, and also visit Buddhist viharas and important Hindu religious places. Ladakh is the place that remains highest in India above sea level, touching and kissing the sky and clouds. Here, the clouds are your friends, and they sail slowly right in front of your eyes. River rafting is another activity one can try out.

Besides tourists, you can see a few more new guests, like migratory birds, bar-headed geese, and Brahmi ducks. The clear sky, snow-capped peaks, and crystal-clear water are all attractions that make your visit to Leh a memorable trip. This key monastery is a place you will find fascinating. At three thousand and six hundred meters above sea level, the twelve-storied complex brags about its stupas, statues, thangkas, and wall paintings that will excite any visitor. Leh Ladakh is full of scenery: colourful rocky hills, glaciers, and exciting trekking trips. And, what about the excitement of seeing the Shanti Stupa, the Leh Palace, Nubra Valley, Silk Route, Hall of Fame Museum, and Gurudwara Patthar Sahib?
  • Khardung La Pass, once a connected route between China and India in trade once upon a time, now plays a vital role in the transportation of goods. Kardula Pass is also called the Pass of Lower Castle. In the olden days, traders used this route to transport goods using many horses and camels.

This area is also known as the "gravity hill" due to the optical illusion created in its surrounding areas. The downhill will appear to be uphill and the car will run at 20 km per hour even if it is in neutral gear. Actually, the downhill is responsible for this magic, though the visitors will feel it as an uphill journey.

  • The Nubra Valley, or Valley of Flowers, gets its name from the flowers in this area. By nature, it’s a cold desert, yet there are a couple of rivers flowing around here: the Shyok and the Nubra River. Landscapes, massive mountains, serene lakes, incredible trails, colourful monasteries, and native villages are the main draws here.
  • Pangong Tso Lake is a 134-kilometer-long body of water also known as a high grassland lake or an endorheic lake.Pangong Tso Lake changes to different shades of blue, green, and an unusual red, making it one of the most magical places to visit. It terminates before it reaches the ocean, and it's called an endorheic lake because at this termination, the minerals and salts are unable to escape from the lake to the ocean and are deposited at the bottom. Thus, the water in this lake is always salty, even though it’s at one of the highest altitudes in the mountain region.
  • Another attraction with a white dome is Santi Stupa, 5 km from Leh. The holy relics of Buddha are protected and enshrined here as a mark of the successful completion of 2500 years of Buddhism by the Japanese Buddhist monk Bhikshu, Gyomyo Nakamura, in 1991. Here, the life stories of Buddha, from childhood to nirvana, are depicted here in the form of sculptures of Buddha.
  • Another wonderful place to visit in Ladah is the Hemis Monastery, built by the King of Ladakh, named Sengge Namgyal. The copper statue of the lord, Budha, is the main attraction here.
